LEROY\u00a0- A healthy Cheyanna Rizor is good news for the Pine River Bucks this season. The Pine River senior has played a key role in her girls basketball team's 3-1 start. She was in the starting lineup last year toward the beginning of the season then sustained an injury which kept her out until track season. She was able to return this season in good health. Rizor indicated her role for the Bucks has been the same as a year ago. That includes getting rebounds and putting up putbacks. Pine River returns to action at home Thursday against Marion. "The first couple of games and scrimmages, none of us have played together," she said. "We knew it would take a couple of games to get into the hang of things. But now, I think our team, especially during the McBain game, really came together and it helped us pull it it out." Rizor has been working on providing the Bucks with leadership throughout the season. "I try to keep a positive attitude and keep my head up and everybody else," she said. "My strongest (point) is defense, and reading where people throw the ball." The Bucks ended the December part of the schedule with an impressive win over league foe McBain. "It's Kassy (Nelson) and my senior year and we're looking to get conference," Rizor said. "Beal City will be a good challenge for us." Communication will be a key in each game, she added. Meanwhile, Rizor is looking to do some more shooting, especially with putbacks.
