REED CITY\u00a0\u2014 Reed City\u2019s wrestling team enters the holiday break and veteran grappler Alex Brummel is looking to continue his strong season. It\u2019s his senior season. He was at 135 pounds last season and is at that weight this year. His goal for 2016-17 is to make it back to The Palace of Auburn Hills for the individual wrestling finals. This time, he wants to place as an all-stater. \u201cI have to keep my head focused at all times and do the best I can,\u201d \u00a0Brummel said. \u201cI was happy (with last season) but wish I would have went further at the state tourney). I need to work a little harder.\u201d Brummel was in other sports at one time, but now focuses on wrestling. He works on the sport year-round. He\u2019s been working on his stamina and on his various moves. Brummel is hopeful the Coyotes can be competitive at the various weight classes. Individually, he expects Austin Spedowski of Chippewa Hills to provide solid competition. \u201cWhatever comes my way, I\u2019m going to take it as a challenge,\u201d he said. \u201cI want to work on the mental aspect of my wrestling.\u201d Reed City is at Lakeview on Jan. 4.
