REED CITY - The Reed City girls soccer team returns to action next Tuesday at Big Rapids Crossroads. In their last action, the Coyotes lost 2-1 at Clare last Wednesday. Kate Ghent scored the lone goal for Reed City. She was assisted by Lindsey Ridderman. Coach Bryan Hall of Reed City said he could see improvement from the Coyotes' first game on March 27 when they lost 4-0 to Newaygo. "We were much better in figuring out where we're supposed to be," Hall said. "We had a lot better defense. I thought we were pretty evenly matched. We had another scoring opportunity in the first half that rolled across but we didn't get a chance on (the ball). We have to get more scoring chance. "Our newer girls are picking it up quick." Even though, it's spring break, Hall has been having practices this week with his team. "We'll have two games a week after this," he said, nothing that his team will be at the Ludington Invitational on April 14. "That will test us." Hall said there is no Central State Activities Association play in soccer. Newaygo comes into the league last year and has soccer. But even though Reed City, Lakeview and Big Rapids have the sport, there's not enough for league play.
