REED CITY \u2014 \u00a0Alexis Van Eck is among the Reed City seniors trying to provide key leadership for the Coyote volleyball team this season. It\u2019s been a young team for the Coyotes who have been trying to find their identity and improve throughout the season. \u201cIt\u2019s been going pretty good,\u201d Van Eck said, \u201cwith both hitting and communicating.\u201d The Coyotes have been using VanEck as a leftside hitter and back row right player. \u201cI was a front-row right last year, so this is different,\u201d she said. Passing has been a strength. \u201cYou have to have a strong platform,\u201d Van Eck said, adding that she\u2019s improved \u201ca lot\u201d from last year. She\u2019s also hoping to hit the ball more accurately. Reed City is home Thursday against Big Rapids and Shelby. \u201cWe could have better communication with teammates,\u201d she said. The Coyotes are looking to be strong by district time.
