REED CITY\u00a0\u2014 Reed City players like Leland Yonkin are looking to play a key role in the critical upcoming weeks of the season. A major highlight for Yonkin and the Coyotes was finishing second to Traverse City West in the Morley Stanwood Invitational last month. Yonkin\u2019s in his second year with the Coyotes. He\u2019s a pitcher and outfielder. As a pitcher, \u201cI can throw hard and have a pretty good curveball,\u201d he said. \u201cI need to develop more pitches. I didn\u2019t pitch in the offseason so I\u2019m working at it.\u201d The Coyotes have been working at their pitching depth, Yonkin noted. As an outfielder, Yonkin has had a strong arm and is working on his fielding. He\u2019s looking at hitting .300. He\u2019s trying to exercise discipline at the plate. The Coyotes are looking to be a factor in the Central State Activities Association Gold Division race. \u201cI feel we have everything we need,\u201d he said. \u201cWe need to bring it together.\u201d Reed City is home with Chippewa Hills on Friday in CSAA Gold Division action.
