REED CITY - The Reed City Sportsman Club had its sign-up for its winter shoots for trap and skeet on Sunday. "We expect quite a crowd this year," club member and former officer Terry Getts said. "We've been getting more and more every year. Most of them shoot both (trap and skeet)." Mike Adrianse is club president. "Our leagues will shoot Saturday and Sunday," Adrianse said. "We shoot from 9 a.m. to approximately 3 p.m., Saturday and Sunday, for 12 weeks. (Last) Sunday will be just the signup. People will shoot this week but not registered targets. This is just our sign-up." The clubgrounds are located off of U.S. 10 just east of Reed City. It's the main activity for the club right now. The league activity continues until the spring. Getts estimates the winger league attracts up to more than 100 shooters. Competitors come from all over. "We've had a couple come from Traverse City," Getts said. "One year we had them coming from clear down Detroit. These people pretty much run the (shooting league) circuit and they want to stay sharpened up. We may get a couple from the Grayling area." The rifle and pistol lanes are open for members. "We don't shut that down," Getts said.
