LEROY\u00a0\u2014\u00a0It was a fun day Saturday at the Alma Team Tournament for the Pine River wrestling team. The Bucks were 5-0 to take first-place honors. It was 56-19 over East Lansing, 63-10 over Mount Pleasant, 49-13 over Dansville, 42-33 over Carson City, which was ranked No. 8 in Division 4 going into the match, and 49-13 over Caledonia in the finals. \u201cThat was a big win for us,\u201d Pine River coach Tim Jones said, referring to the victory over CC-Crystal. Going 5-0 for the Bucks were Jordan Stone at 119, Josh Jackson at 215 and Chase Morrison at 285. Racking up 4-1 marks were Tony Moore at 125, and Brady Long at 145. The 3-2 wrestlers were Nate Park at 103, Tucker Fansler at 130, Philip Ragatzki (3-1) at 135, Justin Cole at 140, Joe Rigling at 152 and Tyler McCurry at 189. \u201cIt was a very good day,\u201d Jones said. \u201cThe middle of our lineup came up big in some of those matches. That\u2019s an area where we have some younger wrestlers and they made a big part of our day.\u201d The Bucks had a dual on Jan. 7 at home. Forest Area wasn\u2019t able to make it but Manton was there and Pine River won 56-16. Winners for Pine River were Park at 103, Stone at 112, Moore at 125, Fansler at 130, Long at 140, Cole at 145, Jeff Gross at 171, McCurry at 189 Jackson at 215 and Morrison at 285. Pine River\u2019s record is now 12-2. \u201cIt was a very good week,\u201d Jones said. \u2018Some of the guys like Tony Moore has had a good week and Jordan Stone. It was a good week overall coming back from Christmas break. Alma was a good tournament win.\u201d The Bucks are at Manistee Wednesday and Grand Rapids Forest Hills Eastern on Saturday.
