LEROY -- Pine River\u2019s wrestling team wound up in second place on Saturday at the Farwell Invitational. The Bucks defeated Clio 54-23, Forest Area 54-18, Fulton Middleton 60-22 and Oscoda 66-12 and then wrestle Big Rapids in the finals. The Bucks lost 41-30. Coach Tim Jones used different lineups in various parts of the day. Tony Moore was 3-0 at 103 while Jordan Stone was\u00a0 2-1 and Chris Terbergh 2-0 at 112 pounds. Kyle Nixon at 135 pounds went 5-0 and upped his career win total to 100. \u201cThat\u2019s a pretty big accomplishment for a junior,\u201d Jones said. Larry Kissinger was 5-0 at 145 pounds, Maverick Martin 5-0 at 152, Mark Herron 3-1 at 160, Adam Langworthy 4-1 at 171, Tom Miller 3-1 at 189, Josh Jackson and Mike Jones both 1-0 at 215 and Kyle Charles and Chase Morrison both 2-1 at heavyweight. Pine River now has a 12-2 record. The Bucks have a home tournament Jan. 5. But they will be practicing this week, Wednesday through Friday. Jones said some varsity wrestlers will be in Traverse City on Saturday to compete in the Grand Traverse Invitational. Reed City will also have a home tournament Saturday.
