Pine River scores early and often in 10-3 win over Fife Lake Forest Area LEROY \u2014 The goals lit up the scoreboard for the Pine River Bucks in a 10-3 Northern Michigan Soccer Conference victory over Fife Lake Forest Area on Monday. The Bucks built a 3-0 lead in the first half on goals by Eric Martin, Nate Millen and Schroeder Vanderhoof. But the Warriors closed it to 3-2 with two goals by Tyler Leffew, including his second one which came with 4.4 seconds left before halftime. Millen scored two more goals within the first five minutes of the second half, including one on a breakaway, to put his team in command. Pine River put on a 5-0 run the rest of the way. \u201cWe played very well,\u201d Millen said. \u201cWe got some kids that have never scored before to score\u00a0(Monday).\u201d Schroeder and Millen had three goals apiece while Martin added two and Reese Lloyd and Zack Wagner contributed one apiece for the Bucks. \u201cFor the most part, and anyone of my forwards are getting an opportunity (to score) and are doing a good job,\u201d said Pine River coach Jenny Hoaglund. Scott Burke and Josh Gostlin were among the goalkeepers for the Bucks. \u201cIt was definitely passing and a lot of teamwork,\u201d said Millen, who has 16 goals this season, compared to three he notched last year. \u201cI think coaching has a lot to do with it. But we\u2019ve practiced harder than in past years. It\u2019s definitely a team effort.\u201d Pine River, 4-8-2, is home Thursday against Gladwin and at Benzie Central on Friday. \u201cThey\u2019re doing very well.
