REED CITY -- Reed City hosted 17 teams at its annual invitational on Saturday. For Reed City, Austin Fowler was third at 189 pounds, Ryan Neal was fourth at 285 pounds and Bryson Hughes was sixth at 145. "This is probably the best tournament we've had here and it's the biggest for sure," Reed City coach Roger Steig said, "and gave our kids a chance to go where they've got to get to. The wrestling was great today. We're hoping this will be annual and we can get all 17 teams to come back every year." Reed City is at Cadillac on Wednesday and home for dual tournament on Saturday. Fowler notched his 100th career win. Reed City also inducted, into its wrestling Hall of Fame, the late Jason Bull, a 2003 graduate and state finalist four years. He won two state titles and was a two-time state runner-up. He died in a car accident in 2015. Evart EVART -- Evart was at Shepherd for the Joe Harris Invitational on Saturday. Placers were Reese Ransom (third, 152), Cole Hopkins (third, 160), Darren Gostlin (fourth, 125), LJ Clark (fifth, 189). There were also strong performances from Daryin Reagan, 3-2 on the day at 135, Josiah Beard (3-2, 145, Jared Beard (3-2 152), and Nick Robinson (2-2 189). Pine River Pine River competed in the Shepherd-John Harris Invitational on Saturday. Results for Pine River: Andrew Stevens (4-0, 145) and Brock Nelson (3-0, 189) placed first. "Andrew had an outstanding day," Pine River coach Tim Jones said. "It was a great tournament for him." Austin Wuesten (3-1, 171 ) and Elijah Carper (3-1, 215) placed second.
