LEROY — Vacation breaks serve as times for former players to return to their gyms where they performed during their high school seasons some outstanding basketball and continue to work on their skills. That was the case over the holidays for several former Pine River basketball players including Jamie Justin, who played on the 2012-13 championship team as a senior. Justin put in one year at Davenport before deciding to postpone her basketball career and focus on her studies. Her sister, Julie, is a sophomore guard on the current Pine River team. “I’m here helping out with the high school team,” she said, adding her freshman season “went all right. I’m almost finished with school. I’ll have over a year left, then I’ll be done.” Justin has been able to watch her sister play in a Bucks uniform. “I think her game is a little different than mine but some of the stuff she does is a lot like I do,” Jamie said. “I think she focuses a little more on defense than dribbling. Once in awhile she’ll ask me for some help and I’ll help her with her shot and stuff.” The Pine River team is off to a 3-1 start. The Bucks resume action at home with Marion in Highland Conference action Thursday.
