EVART \u2013 It\u2019s the second week of the girls basketball preseason for the Evart Wildcats who right now are expected to have seven players on the varsity and 11 on the junior varsity. The Wildcats started practices last week. Returning players for the varsity include Saige Nabozny and Lydia Wetters. Both are coming off a recently completed volleyball season for the Wildcats. Brown anticipates being young and somewhat inexperienced this season. \u201cI also have two seniors that haven\u2019t played before, plus one freshman, one junior and one sophomore,\u201d Brown said. A main focus for Brown and his team is getting in shape \u201cand move on from there.\u201d The Wildcats will open their season after the Thanksgiving Day break. They have a scrimmage this Saturday at Morey Courts. \u201cAbout 30 teams will be there and we\u2019ll scrimmage six,\u201d Brown said. \u201cMcBain is up there, so is Marion. Right now, Brown isn\u2019t sure what his team\u2019s main strength might be. \u201cWe have a lot of guards,\u201d he said. Taller players like Courtney Dennis and Chelsea Bengry and strong shooters like Magdalen Hyde have graduated from last season\u2019s squad. Evart opens the season with non-league games at home Nov. 27 with Lakeview and at Chippewa Hills Nov. 30. The first Highland Conference game is Jan. 3 at Manton.
