EVART\u00a0- Evart's competitive cheer team settled for third place Monday night at its home invitational. Harrison wound up in first place. Evart coach Marty Pattee indicated Round 2 was her team's best round Monday night. "That's unusual for us," Pattee said. "We're going to work on everything. In order to make it through the districts, we're going to have to." Evart had 589.3 points. Harrison had 623 points while second-place Meridian had 614 points. Pine River was at the meet and finished seventh with 434.9 points. Teams competed in three rounds. The other schools there were Big Rapids Crossroads, Brethren, Kingsley, Farwell, Marion and Manistee. Saturday, the Wildcats were at Houghton Lake. The Wildcats have been busy in recent weeks. On Jan. 29, Evart was at Chippewa Hills and took first. On Saturday (Feb. 1), the Wildcats were second at Brethren. Saturday, Evart was third in its division at the Houghton Lake Invitational. "They did well, but it wasn't their top performance by any means," said Pattee. "There were eight teams in our division and they were all very good teams." Districts are Saturday at Evart. Action starts at 11 a.m. The top four teams will go to regionals. "There are still things we have to work at," Pattee said. "We'll spend the rest of this week doing it." Pine River, coached by Tiffany Lindquist, will also compete in the districts on Saturday.
