GRAND RAPIDS \u2014 Evart\u2019s boys track team tied for 16th with 11 points in Saturday\u2019s Division 3 state final meet at Grand Rapids\u2019 Houseman Field. Kyle Stokes was seventh in the 200 meters (23.23) while Josh Woods was sixth in the 1,600 meters (4:33.08) with a personal record. Austin Hamilton was eighth in the 3,200-meter run (10:07.4). The 400-meter relay team of Cody Pritchard, Scott Martin, Kyle Stokes and Danny Griffin was fourth in 44.62. The 800 relay team of Pritchard, Martin, Stokes and Griffin was sixth in 1:33.8. Martin was seventh in the high jump (6-1). \u201cWe were really pleased with the number of kids we had who made all-state,\u201d Evart boys coach Dennis Peacock said. \u201cWe had kids all-state in seven different events. That speaks to a pretty good team. We thought we might place higher in some of those events. We were pleased. It was neat to see. It speaks for a good team.\u201d Key Evart graduates include Danny Griffin, Cody Pritchard and Josh Woods, in various events, including the relays. \u201cThat will make a big impact,\u201d Peacock said. \u201cWe have some pretty good kids back. We have a good sophomore class. We think the kids will be very good this year.\u201d No other area athletes placed. In the Division 3 meet at Comstock Park, Pine River\u2019s Elijah Lewis was sixth in the 400-meter dash in 50.74 seconds and scored his team\u2019s only three points.
