REED CITY \u2014 The season has ended for a young Reed City volleyball team that made strides from when the season started in August. Prior to the districts last week, Reed City had a quad at home and went 2-1, losing only to Kingsley. Junior Megan Donley could attest to the progress her team had made following that match. \u201cI thought we did very well,\u201d she said. \u201cKingsley\u2019s a pretty good team.\u201d It was Donley\u2019s first season on the varsity. \u201cIt\u2019s been pretty good,\u201d she said. \u201cWe\u2019re starting to have (some chemistry) with the team.\u201d Donley played rightside for the Coyotes. \u201cI\u2019m kind of happy with my season,\u201d she said. \u201cI started to peak right about district time. I\u2019ve been strong hitting lately. My blocks have (come on too). I\u2019m proud with how I\u2019m doing.\u201d Donley said she started hitting the ball harder. She was looking to be more consistent. \u201cMy accuracy is improving too,\u201d she said, adding that the team, going into districts \u201cis playing pretty strong right now. Hopefully in districts, we\u2019ll play to the best of our ability.\u201d Reed City beat Clare in semifinals of the districts and lost to Big Rapids in the finals. A highlight of the season was beating Ionia, a Class A team, Donley said.
