EVART — Karsten Allen is among the Evart juniors hoping to help the Wildcat season extend past this week. The Wildcats play at Morley Stanwood in the districts this week. They play Pine River on Wednesday in a semifinal game and hope to break a winless mark against the Wildcats this season. Midway in the season, after a close loss to Big Rapids Crossroads, Allen could see where his team was making progress. "We played extremely better," Allen said after the setback. "Our boxing out was better than other games. We could have had better shot selection." Allen got moved up for a couple of varsity games last season, but received a lot of minutes for the Wildcats this season. "They look for me to get rebounds, boxing out, maybe, taking it to the hole sometimes," he said. "I'm the sixth, seventh man in there. I'm playing a lot better than what I expected for the varsity level." The Wildcats were picking up more wins late in the season, but still finished slightly below .500. "We have to keep up our emotion high," Allen said. "We get too satisfied in the first quarter." "Karsen is starting to figure his spot out," Morgan said after the Crossroads game. "This was the best he has played all year."
