
Reed City wrestlers celebrate winning the U.S. 131 Cup at Pine River on Wednesday.
Courtesy photo/LEROY – It was a sweet way for the regular season to end for the Reed City Coyotes.
It was a three-team wrestling event at Pine River on Wednesday for the U.S. 131 Cup. It was Reed City over Cadillac 56-20 and over Pine River 52-19 to win the Cup for the Coyotes.
Wrestlers going 2-0 for RC were Hunter Fagon-Moyer, Noah Morgan, Bryson Hughes, Wyatt Spalo, Barron Bowman, Elijah Lentz, Connor Ward and Izaiah Lentz.
Wrestlers with one win were Noah McKenney, Carter Johnson, Brock Cutler and Andrew Kiaunis.
“The U.S. 131 Showdown is a traveling trophy that goes home with the winning team until the following year,” Reed City coach Roger Steig said. “Our season record is 24-10."
This weekend Saturday, Reed City is at Grant for the CSAA Conference Championships. The Coyotes will host team districts next Thursday and faces Big Rapids in the first round, with the winner taking on Chippewa Hills for the title.
