HOUGHTON LAKE—Evart was up 23-7 after the first quarter of this Highland Conference battle on Wednesday. It was 33-17 at halftime and 47-24 after the third quarter.
Dakobe White had 26 points and Jordan Albright had nine. Everybody scored for the Wildcats.
“We started the game really hot,” Morgan said. “We were up 18-0 and it was because of defense. The second quarter, they responded well and hit the glass better. The third quarter coming out we played well. Dakobe is shooting better. He ended up with three 3-pointers. If we can get him on the outside shooting he’s going to be unstoppable.
“I was proud of our stifling defense.”
The Wildcats (7-7, 8-9) are home in Friday with Roscommon.
Beal City 47, Pine River 3
Pine River led 10-7 after the first quarter and it was tied 21-21 at halftime. Beal City had a 15-6 scoring advantage in the third and 11-6 in the fourth.
“We played a solid first half,” coach Brian Goodenow said. “We trusted our stuff and used our size advantage in the post. But in the second half we let their pressure speed us up and force us into a boatload of turnovers.”
Pine River is 4-12 overall and 3-9 in the league.
