Herald Review photo/John RaffelGAYLORD—Reed City wrestled in the Northern Michigan Championships in Gaylord on Saturday. Of 43 teams entered, the Coyotes placed eighth as a team.
Individual leaders were Bryson Hughes 3-1 at 190 and placed third; Wyatt Spalo 3-1 at 285 and placed third; Carter Johnson was 2-2 at 106 and placed fourth; Barren Bowman was 3-1 at 113 and placed fifth; Elijah Lentz 2-2 at 138 and placed sixth, and Izaiah Lentz 2-2 at weight class 144 and placed seventh.
Other wrestlers with wins were Andrew Kiaunis, Hunter Fagon-Moyer and Noah Mckenney.
RC”s next match is this week Wednesday in the 131 Show Down with Pine River and Cadillac.
On Jan. 25, Reed City dropped its first match to Lakeview 48-33 and won the second match with Big Rapids 66-15 on Wednesday.
Wrestlers going 2-0 were Wyatt Spalo (285), Carter Johnson (106), Elijah Lentz (138), Izaiah Lentz (144), Noah McKenney (150) and Bryson Hughes (190).
Wrestlers with one win were J. D. Adrianse (120), Barron Bowman (113), Hunter Fagon-Moyer (175) and Braydon Saxton (190).
Reed City’s final conference record is 3-5 and overall record is 22-10. This weekend RC is at Gaylord wrestling in the 43-team Northern Michigan Wrestling Championships.

Evart was at Shepherd's John Harris invitational on Saturday.
“We brought a small group of wrestlers today due to some illness and injuries but were able to place two wrestlers,” coach Ben Bryant said. “Alex Burmans took third in a very tough heavyweight bracket. Then Cole Hopkins remained undefeated on the season, taking first place at 175 pounds. He is now 35-0.
“We have Wednesday off and resume our schedule with our conference individual championships in Benzie Central next Saturday.”
