EVART — Evart’s track team competed on Friday in the Grand Valley State Indoor Invitational.

For the girls, Macey Wallace won the long jump (15-4) and was sixth in the 200-meter dash (28.95). Kara Henry was 11th (1:08.08) in the 400-meter run. Kelci Elder was eighth in the shot put (29-3) and 11th in the discus (80-5). Henry was 25th in the high jump (4-5). Kaylee Ladd was third in the long jump (13-7).

“It went well,” Evart girls coach Todd Scott said. “A lot of kids are rusty from not doing stuff all year, that type of thing.”

Among the best events for the Wildcat boys was the pole vault with Zolan Long taking third (12-0) and Richard Foster coming in ninth (11-0). Austin Hamilton was 11th (4:54.50) and Nathan Woods 14th (4:56.23) in the 1,600 meters.

Evart is scheduled to be at Chippewa Hills on April 3 and then home on April 10 against Harrison and at Coleman on April 16. There are home meets on April 24 with Beal City and May 15 with McBain.

The regionals are on May 18 at East Jordan.
