Wallace finishes productive season for Evart girls track team

EVART — Macey Wallace proved to be a valuable point producer for Evart’s girls track team this spring.

In her sophomore season, Wallace participated in various events, including the high jump, where she had a personal best of 4-8. She finished seventh at regionals.

Her best effort in the long jump was 14-8 at Alma. She jumped 14-4 ½ at the Highland Conference meet. She was among her team’s top jumpers all season. She ran at the state meet with Brooke Belleville, Mara VanOrder and Kylie Stokes in the 4x100 relay and took 12th place (53:11).

She was on the 4x200 relay that won at the Alma College Scottie Classic.

Last season as a freshman, Wallace covered 14-9 in the long jump and didn’t do the high jump. She was hoping to get closer to 15-0 before the season ended.

The long jump has been her favorite event. “Curving your body” to get over the bar is a key for being a successful high jumper, Wallace added.

Throughout the season, Wallace continually scored points for Evart. She was hopeful of going to the state final with the 4x100 relay team.

“Our handsoffs have gotten better,” Wallace said
