LEROY — Tony Moore’s been having quite a season at 103 pounds in his sophomore wrestling season at Pine River.

Moore won the Mid-Michigan Wrestling Conference title at that weight class on Feb. 2. Then on Feb. 9, he placed fourth in the Division 4 district to qualify for the wrestling regionals this weekend.

At the conference meet, Moore was 2-0 and won both matches by pin. He ended the regular season at 30-7.

“I’m pretty happy about it,” he said. “It’s been a pretty good effort.”

He improved significantly from last year.

“Last year, I wasn’t even on varsity,” he said. “I gained a little more weight and worked during the summer.”

Top work has been a strength, Moore said.

He wants to work on his turn and different moves.

Moore was hoping to do well in districts and took fourth. As a team the Bucks host the regionals on Wednesday and face Hesperia in the semifinals.
