GRAYLING – It was a great day to be a Coyote wrestler on Saturday.

Reed City won the Grayling Team Wrestling Invitational, going 5-0.

“In our pool we were 3-0, defeating Tawas 41-34, Onaway 69-6 and Cadillac 48-36,” Reed City coach Roger Steig said. “In the championship round, we gave 12-0 Whittemore Prescott their first loss of the season 48-34 and 12-1 Gladwin their second loss of the season 45-34. This was the second year in a row we have won the Grayling Invitational.”

Reed City wrestlers going 5-0 were Izaiah Lentz (150), Wyatt Spalo (285), Barron Bowman (113) and Elijah Lentz (138). Wrestlers going 4-1 were Bryson Hughes (190) and Carter Johnson (106). Hunter Fagon-Moyer was 3-2 (165).

Wrestlers with two wins were Ethan Phillips (157), Braydon Saxton (175), Logan Kindig (132) and Myles McCarthy (144). Other wrestlers with wins were Brock Cutler (126), JD Adrianse (120) and Noah Morgan (215).

Reed City’s season overall record is 20-8.

Reed City is back in CSAA conference action this Wednesday at Grant vs. Tri County and Grant. Wrestling starts at 5 p.m.

Evart has four placers

Evart had four placers at Saturday’s Lakeview Invitational.

Cole Hopkins at 175 pounds, and Alex Burhans at heavyweight both went undefeated and took first place for Evart.

“Riley Ransom had a very solid day picking up third place at 165 pounds, and Ethan Conk took fourth place in a tough 113-pound bracket,” Evart coach Ben Bryant said. “This week we are home, on Thursday, with Benzie Central and Frankfort.”
