REED CITY — Gary Bailey always makes sure he plays in his two leagues at Spring Valley Golf Course.

That includes the unique Sunday Scramble League.

Bailey also plays in the Tuesday Men’s League. But in the scramble league, golfers of all skill levels are involved. Golfers come in, sign up and the league makes the foursomes.

Bailey, who also once played in the Thursday night league for men, is at Crossroads Realty of Reed City.

“I didn’t start (golf) until I was 32 years old,” he said. “All my buddies got into it,”

He has a 4 handicap for nine holes. But Bailey recalls a big moment in 1992, when he recorded a hole-in-one at No. 12. Bailey likes the Sunday league’s format because it includes a “variety of people.”

The Spring Valley Course “has some challenges. Some are quite long holes,” he said.
