REED CITY -- Alaina Stein hit the right shot at the right time.

Stein's 3-pointer with 8.8 seconds to play lifted Reed City to its first win of the season 61-60 over Tri County on Friday.

Reed City (1-2, 1-5) is Big Rapids on Friday.

It was Stein's only basket of the night but was a huge one.

"We were supposed to go to the other side, but the way it came in it came to my side," Stein said. "I got the ball and heard coach yell 'shoot it.' It felt really good."

The Coyotes trailed the Vikings most of the way before mounting a successful comeback.

"We cut our turnovers down and the difference was we put the ball in the bucket," Reed City Tim Beilfuss said. "We created the deflections and turnovers we needed. We knew on film we need to get on a run. We want to apply pressure as much as possible. These kids did that the entire game. They never lost their focus on what the game plan was, so it was great."

The Coyotes hit seven 3-pointers.

"We shoot every day and we shoot a ton of 3-pointers," Beilfuss said.

"When people want to sag in and don't close out, we're going to shoot it. We're not afraid to shoot it."

Paige Lofquist had 20 points.

"This is by far the best game I ever played," Lofquist said. "The key was to keep up our press and tire them out.
