Across the sports world, fan bases tend to vary.

Some are welcoming, others competitive, and others down right annoying.

PlayMichigan.com and Yardbarker both came out with recent surveys rating college and professional sports fan bases as the worst behaved and the most annoying. While PlayMichigan.com looked specifically at college fan bases, Yardbarker took it a litter further to include the pro teams as well.

According to the PlayMichigan.com survey, 25 schools were ranked by the behavior of their fans at sporting events. The most arrogant and worst behaved honors go to the University of Alabama Crimson Tide. Rounding out the Top 5 for the most arrogant college fan bases are Notre Dame, Duke, Auburn and Michigan State.

In the overall 25, the University of Michigan came in at No. 7 because they "yell at other fans," Michigan State came in at No. 18 because they're "arrogant/think they're better," and the University of Illinois came in last place at No. 25 because they "use foul language."

According to Yardbarker, Duke University basketball fans take the cake as the most annoying. They're followed by the fan bases of the New York Yankees, Chicago Bears, Notre Dame football fans, the New England Patriots, Pittsburgh Penguins, Toronto Maple Leafs, Los Angeles Lakers, and Golden State Warriors.

Coming in at No. 10 is the fan base of the St. Louis Cardinals. Often referred to as the best baseball town in America, and one of the best fan bases for sports in the country, Yardbarker didn't think so.

"Cardinals fans didn’t invent baseball, but they’d like you to believe that is the case," the author wrote in part of his St. Louis review.
