GIRLS BASKETBALL Pine River 61, Lake City 22 LEROY \u2014 The Pine River girls basketball team had little trouble in posting a 61-22 victory over Lake City on Friday. The Bucks are now 11-0 in the Highland Conference and 15-1 overall. Jamie Justin led Pine River with 16 points, while Devyn Powelladded 14. Kassy Nelson recorded 10 points and four steals. Erica Buchner paced the rebounding effort with eight boards. Reed City 54, Newaygo 28 REED CITY \u2014 A solid defensive effort helped Reed City\u2019s girls basketball team pick up a 54-28 win over Newaygo on Tuesday (Feb. 5). Emma Lockhart led the Coyotes with 15 points and four assists, while Kalee Hensel added 11. Natalie Westhoff chipped in seven points and six rebounds while Mackenzie Switzer added six. \u201cWe didn\u2019t have a lot of flow and were kind of going through the motions,\u201d Reed City coach Brian Koopman said. \u201cI thought we played very well defensively in the second and third quarters.\u201d Pine River 48, Marion 14 MARION \u2014 Pine River\u2019s girls basketball team bolted out to a 17-0 lead after the first quarter and never looked back in a 48-14 win over Marion on Tuesday, Feb. 5. The Bucks (14-1, 10-0) were led by Jamie Justin with 13 points and five rebounds, while Kassy Nelson had 11 points and nine rebounds. Cayman Gatt added eight points in the win. \u201cOur defense was very good in the first half,\u201d Pine River coach Shawn Ruppert said. \u201cI thought our second team even did a good job defending through most of the second half.
