Grant 44, Reed City 39

GRANT -- Reed City fell to 0-5 with this close loss to Grant (2-4) on Friday. The Coyotes are 0-2 in the CSAA Gold and Grant is 2-0.

Taylor Harrison had 17 points and Alison Duddles eight for Reed City.

Reed City is home on Jan. 10 against Tri County.

"We were ahead almost the entire game," Reed City coach Tim Beilfuss said "We were up 10-9 afer the first half, 21-14 going into halftime and 29-27 going into the fourth quarter. We gave up the lead for good with 5 ½ minutes left.

"Grant made their free throws. We took care of the basketball tonight."

Alma 44, Reed City 33

ALMA -- Reed City fell to 0-4 with this nonleague loss to Alma on Tuesday, Dec. 17

Taylor Harrison had eight points for Reed City which trailed 10-0 after the first quarter but came to within four in the fourth before Alma went on a 7-0 run in 30 seconds.

"We're playing hard but making mistakes at the wrong time," Reed City coach Tim Beilfuss said.

Evart 38, Pine River 34

LEROY -- Evart (1-3, 3-3) posted this Highland Conference win on Friday over Pine River (0-4, 0-5).

For Pine River Hailey Wanstead had seven points, seven rebounds and three steals.

Evart trailed 21-19 at the half.

The score was tied 30-30 after the third.

Evart is at Farwell on Jan. 7. The same day, Pine River is at Manton.

McBain 66, Evart 39

EVART -- Evart (2-3) trailed 10-6 after the first quarter, 33-18 at the half and 47-26 after three quarters in this conference game on Wednesday.

Kelci Elder led scoring for Evart with 10 points. Livia Hopkins had nine points.

BOYS BASKETBALL

Grant 67, Reed City 55

GRANT --Reed City (0-2, 0-3) fell to Grant (1-1, 1-3) on Friday. Zac Saez and Payton Hansen both had 16 points for Reed City while Jeffrey Samuels had 10.

"It was back and forth in the first half and we got behind and never recovered," Reed City coach Jesse Kailing said. "It was like a 12-point game the rest of the way."

Alma 61, Reed City 28

ALMA -- Reed City fell to 0-2 with this nonleague loss to Alma on Tuesday.

Lake City 56, Pine River 53

LEROY -- Pine River fell to 1-1 with this loss to Highland foe Lake City. The Bucks led 30-29 at halftime. Sasha Huffman had 23 points and Marcus Jurik seven for the Bucks.

"They threw a zone at us and we did not handle it very well," Pine River coach Brian Goodenow said.

WRESTLING

Reed City 2-3

SOUTH HAVEN -- Reed City was at the South Haven Invitational on Saturday. Reed City won 63-10 over Battle Creek Central 10; lost 42-33 to Watervliet; beat Bangor 57-15 and lost to South Haven 63-9 and 48-36 to Ravenna.

Individually Chad Landis, Austin Fowler and Kellen Haney were 4-1. Andrew Clementshaw, Anakin Andrus and Bryson Hughes were 3-2. Jordan Argue was 3-0. Wrestlers with wins were Ryan Neal, Mason Johnson, Alex Andrus and Aaron Boucher. Noah Morgan and Julia Hackworth each had one win.

Reed City's next action is on Jan. 4 at the Kalkaska Invitational.

Reed City 0-2

STANTON -- Reed City's wrestling team lost to Grant 59-30 and to Fremont 69-8 on Wednes-day in CSAA action at Central Montcalm.

Austin Fowler (215) was 2-0 for the Coyotes. Kellen Haney (171), Ryan Neal (285), Andrew Clementshaw (112) Bryan Hughes (145) and Chad Landis (160) were 1-1.

Evart 1-1

KINGSLEY -- Evart was in a tri-meet on Wednesday with Kingsley and Manton.

Evart beat Manton 36-35 with a match-sealing pin by Bryant Calderon at 135 pounds.

Reese Ransom, Cole Hopkins, LJ Clark, Dom Malicki-Lancaster, Nick Robinson and Bryant Calderon all went undefeated.

"Sam Bailey and Corey Vader had nice performances for us also," Evart coach Ben Bryant said.
