Reed City hosting tournament
REED CITY — Reed City’s golf team will be hosting a five-team invitational on Friday at Falcon Head Golf Course. Action starts at 9 a.m.
Other teams will be Hesperia, Lakeview, Sparta and Tri County
The Coyotes were scheduled to host a Central State Activities Association Gold Division tournament on Tuesday.
Last Friday, the Coyotes were in a tournament at Eagle Glen Golf Course in Farwell Bryce Grannis shot a 93 while Zach Wirgau had a 97. Brady Slater holed a 107 and Josh Mund had a 113.
Grant 8, Reed City 0
GRANT — Grant defeated Reed City 8-0 in Central State Activities Association Gold Division play on Monday.
The Coyotes trailed 2-0 at halftime but Grant scored six times in the first 15 minutes of the second half to end the game.
“We were looking good,” Reed City coach Bryan Hall said. “I can’t get my finger on what’s going on.”
Brenna Westhoff was keeper for Reed City, which plays at Big Rapids on Wednesday.
Beal City 14, 19, Pine River 8, 1
BEAL CITY — Pine River’s softball team lost 14-8 and 19-1 to Beal City on Friday in Highland Conference action. Dana Hill was the losing pitcher in the first game and Alexis Bennett took the loss in the nightcap.
Bekah Dean, KayLee Goodman, Kyla Johnson and Chelsey TerBurgh all had three hits in the first game. Bennett had a triple in the second game.
Pine River plays home Friday against Lake City.

LEROY — Pine River dropped a pair of Highland Conference baseball games on Friday to defending champion Beal City 5-1 and 8-2
Grant Ruppert took the loss in the first game, going six innings, allowing three earned runs and seven hits while striking out two and hitting four batters. Matt Goodenow and Marcus Washington both had singles and an RBI for the Bucks.
Raden Holmes was the losing pitcher in the second game, going four innings and striking out six. Goodenow, Dylan Loop and Tyler Wing had hits for Pine River (6-2, 14-8).
The Bucks swept Manistee in a road doubleheader earlier in the week 13-0 and 9-4.
Pine River is home with Lake City on Friday and is at Glen Lake on Saturday.
