Marion drops varsity football
MARION — Marion announced last week it would not be fielding a football team this season in the Highland Conference. That means the Eagles will forfeit their game at Evart Sept. 27 and their contest at Pine River on Oct. 17. That would leave both schools with three home games.
Officials from both schools said the situation at Marion would mean a forfeit victory for their respective teams and would count in playoff consideration. Both schools indicated they are looking for a possible new opponents for that date. Evart’s game with Marion was the Wildcats’ homecoming and school officials indicated it might be moved to another home game.
