BUCKS SWEEP KENT CITY

KENT CITY — The Pine River baseball team ended the regular season with a doubleheader sweep of Kent City on Tuesday (May 27).

The Bucks picked up 8-2 and 7-4 victories to end the regular season at 24-5 overall.

Greg Park was the winning pitcher in the 8-2 win, giving up two hits and a walk with seven strikeouts in six innings on the mound.

Lucas Harris led the way offensively with two hits, runs, stolen bases and walks apiece while Park helped his cause by going 2-for-4 with a pair of runs and an RBI. Matt Goodenow drove in two runs with a double, Mason Powell had a hit and three RBIs, Alex Knapp was 2-for-3 with an RBI and Brady Long drove in a run and scored a run to go with a single.

In the nightcap, Mitchell McDonald picked up the win after allowing two hits and four walks with four strikeouts in five innings.

Skyler Nelson had two hits and scored a run while Park hit a two-run double and Harris recorded two hits with an RBI, a run scored and a stolen base.

SOFTBALL

KENT CITY TAKES TWO FROM PINE RIVER

KENT CITY — The Pine River softball team suffered a pair of losses to Kent City in its regular-season finale Tuesday night (May 27).

The Bucks suffered a 5-3 loss in the opener before dropping a 21-2 contest in the finale.

Alexis Stokely took the loss on the mound for the Bucks in the opener despite only giving up one earned run on three hits with five strikeouts in six innings of work.

Tailor Charles hit a two-run single while Erin Millen piled up two hits with a run scored and Brooke Pennington hit a triple and scored a run.

Pennington was handed the loss as the starting pitcher after giving up three hits with 20 walks and 17 earned runs in addition to four strikeouts in four innings.

At the plate, Pennington hit an RBI-double while Jenna Johnson and Chelsey TerBurgh each had two hits in the contest.

Reed City ends season

MANISTEE —The Reed City girls soccer team had its season come to an end Tuesday, May 27, with a 5-0 loss to Manistee in a Division 3 District 48 pre-district game at Manistee.
