It was Reed City\u2019s second win of the season and their first since opening day. Wyatte Baker had two assists on his birthday while Taylor Weiss also had an assist. It was 3-1 at halftime. Baker and Weiss are team captains. Goalkeeper was Troy Giese.\u00a0Reed City only had three goals as a team entering the game. \u201cThe team we played, it\u2019s the first year of having a team,\u201d said Reed City coach Matt Webster. \u201cWe moved the ball through the middle and got it in. We played well from back to front.\u201d CROSS COUNTRY Reed City girls seventh STANTON \u2014 The third Central State Activities Association (CSAA) jamboree of the season was Tuesday, Oct. 1, at Central Montcalm High School with\u00a0Reed City coming in seventh (211) for the girls. For the Coyotes, Joelynn Gamble-Brown came in 35th (25:32.87), Lindsey Kienitz placed 42nd (26:51.48), Emily Nardone followed in 44th (27:01.39) and Shawna Riley finished in 61st (31:26.81). Kristen Cranney was the lone runner for Morley Stanwood, coming in ninth place (22:48.72). On the boys side, Reed City was ninth (206). Reed City had Kris Kellogg come in 27th (19:46.21), followed by Matt McGahey in 28th (19:49.58), Drake Walker in 32nd (20:03.18) and Zack Borst in 73rd (26:39.55). VOLLEYBALL Reed City 3, Lakeview 0 LAKEVIEW \u2014 The Reed City volleyball team improved to 4-1 in the CSAA with a 3-0 victory over Lakeview on Wednesday. The Coyotes won in sets of 25-14, 26-24 and 25-21. Jacolyn Mullins piled up five aces, 10 kills, two blocks and 15 digs while Natalie Westhoff had four kills a block and nine digs, Heather Tacey had three kills, a dig and 22 assists and Karah Hensel had nine digs. Pine River 3, Manton 0 MANTON\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Pine River\u2019s volleyball team picked up a 3-0 Highland Conference victory over Manton on Tuesday, Oct. 1. The Bucks took down Manton 25-19, 27-25, 25-20. Michelle Kelsey led the Bucks with 13 kills and nine digs, while\u00a0Kassy Nelson had nine digs and four kills.\u00a0Brittany Davis added six kills and Alexis Stokely had 27 digs. Pine River improved to 20-10-1 overall and 2-1 in the Highland Conference. McBain 3, Evart 0 MCBAIN\u00a0\u2014 Evart lost to McBain in Highland Conference action on Oct. 1 by scores of 25-13, 25-14, 25-20. Tabitha Turley had seven assists and four digs for Evart while Sabrina McKay had five digs. Evart is home with Manton next Tuesday. SOCCER\u00a0 Gladwin 8, Pine River 0 GLADWIN\u00a0\u2014\u00a0Pine River\u2019s soccer team fell to Gladwin 8-0 on Tuesday, Oct. 1. Gladwin came out strong scoring its first goal only two minutes into the game. Pine River regrouped and held them off until about 12 minutes to go in the first half. In the second half, Pine River pressed a bit and was able to hold Gladwin to two goals.
