Reed City 65, Hesperia 20

REED CITY — A 23-0 run in the second quarter lifted the Reed City girls basketball team to a 65-20 victory Friday over Hesperia.

The Coyotes led 7-6 at the end of the first quarter before their run to open the game.

Reed City was led by Alaina Woodard with 13 points and Emma Lockhart with 12 points. Kalee Hensel tallied nine points for the Coyotes and Karah Hensel and Makenzie Switzer netted six points each.

Pine River 65, Lake City 52

LAKE CITY — The final run belonged to the Pine River boys basketball team as the Bucks recorded a 65-52 victory over Lake City.

Pine River used an 11-0 run in the contest, only to watch the Trojans score 12 straight. In the end, the Bucks out-scored Lake City 17-9 in the fourth quarter to pull out the victory.

Skyler Nelson led the way for Pine River with 14 points. Devin Ruppert and Lincoln Erickson each tallied 12 points, while Mitchell McDonald added eight and Brandon Hoaglund chipped in with seven.

Erickson also grabbed 10 rebounds and McDonald handed out eight assists to go along with three steals.

Reed City 67, Hesperia 31

HESPERIA — Seven different players scored at least six points as the Reed City boys basektball team posted a 67-31 victory over Holton.

Kyle Wright and Dean Eichenberg each scored 11 points to pace the Coyotes. Wright also grabbed 12 rebounds, handed out six assists and added seven steals.

Chad Samuels finished with nine points, Nolan Patterson eight, Jake Vincent seven and Ricky Droke and Trevor Nelson six apiece.

Pine River 70, Marion 37

LEROY — The Pine River boys basketball team stayed in the thick of the Highland Conference race with a 70-37 victory over Marion. (Feb. 12)

The Bucks are now 7-2 in the league and 13-2 overall.

Pine River led 25-17 at halftime, but outscored the Eagles 11-4 in the second quarter and 18-9 in the third quarter to grab control of the game.

Pine River was paced by Joe Bowman with 16 points. Skyler Nelson had a strong all-around game with 15 points, five rebounds and four assists and Lincoln Erickson netted 10 points and six boards.

Devin Ruppert grabbed six rebounds and Mitch McDonald handed out four assists for the Bucks in a winning cause.
