LEROY -- Pine River's girls basketball team ended the regular season at 6-14, coming off a winless 2018-19 campaign.

Obviously some progress has been made with players like freshman Madi Sparks playing a huge role in the improvement.

The Bucks lost to Hart Monday night to open the Division 3 district tournament.

Sparks found out during the summer she would probably be playing varsity this season.

"I was really exited," she said, adding she was nervous to start out and it took about four games for her to feel comfortable. "I think we did pretty good this year."

Scoring was among Sparks' main roles. She had a high game of 18. From down below is her best shot, she indicated.

"You need good form," Sparks said.
