Sophomore heads attack for Reed City girls

REED CITY — McKenzie Cornelius is out for her sophomore year for the Reed City girls cross country team and gives her squad some key experience coming into the

season.

She felt she continually improved during her freshman season.

“It’s pretty different from middle school,” she said.

Cornelius ran track and also had some offseason running to get ready for the fall, usually three to five miles a day. That factor should help her this season, Cornelius indicated.

Her best time last season was a 21:47. She’d like to lower that into the 20s this season.

“I’m hoping my third mile will be better this year,” Cornelius said. “Usually my first mile is probably the best.”

The Coyotes have enough girls to score as a team this season, a factor that encourages Cornelius.
