REED CITY -- Reed City started out 0-20 last season but has turned it around to a .500 record for a squad, which won both ends of a doubleheader with Newaygo to put RC alone in second place in the CSAA Conference standings last week.

Key contributors last week were Isabell Guy who pitched two solid games getting both wins against Newaygo. Kaylin Goodman was strong at the plate with five RBIs in game two against Newaygo.

Rylie Shafer leads the team in hitting with a .356 batting average, Hayden Cutler leads the team with 29 RBIs and also leads the team in home runs.

This week on Tuesday Reed City was at Fremont in its biggest game of the year at this point.

"We have a one-game lead over Central Montcalm and Grant for second place in the conference and they play each other. Last year we were last place in the conference and this has been a big step forward for us," coach Roger Steig said.
