REED CITY — Reed City’s boys golf team is in the busiest part of its 2015 schedule.

On Friday, Reed City played at the Pines Golf Course at Lake Isabella in the Chippewa Hills Tournament.

Brady Slater shot a 94.

“He played fantastic golf that day,” Reed City coach Katrina Wray said. “I followed him around most of the day.”

Putting is something where Slater can shave off more strokes, Wray indicated.

“On hole No. 1, he hit his first shot about 265 yards, a monster drive for him,” she said. “His second shot from the fairway, he was 99 yards from the pin and he eagled that shot, up and in. It was pretty crazy.”

Bryce Grannis had a 107.

“Bryce is a freshman this year and he shot a 140 in his first match at Brookside,” Wray said. “He’s shaved that down, little by little, every week. And now, coming in with a 107, is a fantastic score for being his first year on the team.”

Seth Root carded a 126. Matt Swales shot a 136.

Reed City played at Katke Golf Course in Big Rapids on May 5 for a Central State Activities Association Gold division match. Reed City shot a 478. Slater shot a 103. Grannis had a 116. Sophomore Kaleb Gallentine had a 126. Swales had a 135.

“It was a pretty high number,” Wray said. “The good news was Brady Slater and Bryce Grannis continue to improve every week.”

This week, Reed City was scheduled to play on Monday at Tullymore, hosted by Big Rapids, and at Kent City on Tuesday in a CSAA match. This Thursday, Reed City has a makeup match at Tri County. There’s also a tournament at Farwell on Friday.
