EVART -- Haidyn Simmer has had a busy summer.
He was recently at Hollister Courts in Baldwin, taking part in summer basketball activity for youngsters.
He's a multi-sport athlete at Evart, although his track season last spring was canceled because of COVID 19.
"I've been working a job and working out," Simmer said. "I spend most of my time in the back yard and on the courts."
Simmer was all set to play football this fall for Evart before it was announced the season is being moved to the spring. There was one week of football practice. He's a slotback and cornerback and played varsity football.
"I didn't do too bad, but definitely have some things to work on," Simmer said.
He had anticipated a strong team before the season got canceled.
He's also a key member of the basketball team and runs track.
A junior, Simmer said basketball is his favorite sport. Having a chance to play during the summer was fun.
Another Evart athlete who played summer basketball at Hollister Park was Gavin Schooley. He ran track and played basketball at Evart.
He was a shooting guard at Evart. He had planned on running track with his specialty being the 100, 200 and 400. The spring sports season was canceled because of COVID. He came with Simmer to Hollister Park to continue to enjoy basketball.
