LEROY — Tyler Signor is among the reasons Pine River is expected to have another championship wrestling team this season.

He’s a senior who has had three years of varsity wrestling. He went to the state finals last season at 119 pounds. He’s looking at 125 and 130 this season.

“Last year was pretty good,” Signor recalled. “I thought we could have done better. But I thought it was my best year.”

Pine River has been a state semifinalist the past two seasons.

“I want us to make it farther than we did last year and get our 100th win,” Signor said.

Signor has been a state qualifier but has not yet placed. It’s a high priority that he has for this season.

“I have to come in and work at as many morning workouts as I can and work as hard as I can in the wrestling room,” he said.

Signor indicated pins are his strength. He wants to work on his takedowns.

The Bucks’ next home match is on Jan. 24 with Manton.
