Scoring specialist Quinton Kichak posts banner season for Reed City

REED CITY —  Quinton Kichak has asserted himself as one of the most prolific scorers in the Central State Activities Athletic Association Gold Division.

The Reed City senior ended his season with a 6-1 district loss to Benzie Central on Monday. But he has been producing plenty of scoring for the Coyotes.

Kichak ended the week of Oct. 5 with 17 goals this season. The Coyotes have struggled offensively, but Kichak has been able to find the back of the net.

“I’ve said time and time again that he’s our horse,” Reed City coach Cody Jacobs said. “We feel great with him on top. We’re comfortable with him there. We definitely go by the beat of his drum.”

Jacobs has watched Kichak play in the past and has observed his senior is having one of his best seasons.

“The best is always ahead of him,” Jacobs said. “We ask him to do so many different things whether it  be playing defense or forward. He does a lot and always answers for us.”

Kichak indicated 2014 has been his best season.

The Coyotes were 2-14 and hoping to have a strong end of the season. They lost 4-0 to Big Rapids recently but it was one of the best efforts the team had all season, Jacobs noted.

“We’ve been playing as hard as we can,” Kichak said. “We have some things that need to be work on. We’re a young team and we need to mature a little bit.”

With a young team, “I work as hard as I can to maybe inspire them to work as hard as they can,” he said.
