Schermerhorn set to score points for Reed City track

REED CITY —  Alison Schermerhorn is looking to give Reed City points for girls track this season in several events.

That should include the 4x400 relay, the 200 and 400, 4x100 relay, and long jump.

“I’ve PRed in the 400 and long jump last year,” she said. “I hope to do the same thing again this year.”

Schermerhorm figures the 400 will be her best event.

“I want to get it down to a minute,” she said, adding the key will be “training, getting up my endurance, running on the weekends.”

She figures the 200 will be her second best event.

“I have a comfortable stride,”she said. “I can stride out really easy and it’s comfortable for me to run.”

Schermerhorn hopes to perhaps be at her best at the beginning or at the middle of the season. The challenge for Schermerhon and her teammates was spending a lot of time inside, waiting for the weather to get warmer.

“We don’t have as many people as we had last year but I think the people we have are pretty solid,” she said.

Reed City will be at the Newaygo Invitational Friday and at Tri County next Tuesday.
