GIRLS BASKETBALL

Cadillac 42, Reed City 26

CADILLAC — Emily Libey scored 17 points but it wasn’t enough for Reed City (1-2) in this non-league loss to Cadillac on Dec. 6.

Kamryn Myers had five points for the Coyotes.

”It was a game of two halves,” Reed City coach Brian Koopman said. “We came out a little flat. They got out on us 14-1.”

Reed City 1-1

REED CITY — Reed City opened its season at 1-1 after losing to Montabella 46-31 on Wednesday and beating Beaverton 42-30.

Doublewinners for the Coyote were Derrick Rasor (189), Brett Walker (215), Ryan Neal (285) and Ryan Simmons (112).

Wrestlers who were 1-1 were Tyler Kerr (101), Mark White (125), Heaven Hurley (130), Jett White (135), Jayson Thompson (145) and Mason Bush (152).

"We are very young this year,” Reed City Roger Steig. “Our kids were very aggressive tonight. We have some work to do. I’m very excited on where this team will go.”

Reed City takes seventh

REED CITY — Reed City placed seventh at the Kent City Classic on Saturday, going 2-3.

Reed City had wins over Godwin Heights 54-12 and East Grand Rapids 46-21. Losses were to Holland 52-24, Rockford 78-3 and Fremont 36-35. Ryan Simmons was 5-0 at the 112-pound weight class. Tyler Kerr was 4-1 at 171. Wrestlers going 3-2 were Jayson Johnson at 140 pounds and Mason Bush at 160 pounds.

Wrestlers with two wins were Heaven Hurley, Alex Brummel, Kellen Haney, Derrick Rasor and Brett Walker.

Wrestlers with one win were Brendon Ruppert, Mark White and Ryan Neal.

Reed City is home Wednesday and Big Rapids and Tri County.

Pine River first

HOWARD CITY — Pine River won the Tri County Invitational on Saturday.

The Bucks defeated Kenowa Hills 76-4 and Tri County 44-27. In the finals, Pine River beat Cedar Springs 43-27.

Wrestlers who went 5-0 were Andrew Park (135), Joe Rigling (171) and Raden Holmes (215). Going 4-1 were Tucker Fansler (152), Roger Nelson (145), Dustin Cole (140), Jacob Roberts (130) and Tyler Signor (149) and Dillon Stevens (112).

Pine River is at the Marquette Invitational on Friday.
