Evart boys first

MANISTEE — Evart’s boys won the Chris Grabowski Memorial Invitational on Thursday at Manistee.

Evart had a 41 and was led by Josh Woods, who was first (17:46.98), Austin Hamilton who was second (17:52.43) and Nathan Woods third (17:52.61). Jacob Quist was 18th (20:07.74), Tanner Ryan 22nd (20:17.09) and Kris Barnett 51st (23:20.56). Brian Barnett was 64th (26:49.28).

The Evart girls were fourth. Brooke Belleville was seventh (22:54.89), Sarah Nelson 10th (24:02.55), Arianna Mooney 24th (25:55.99), Rose Clark 33rd (28:58.44) and Grace Green 41st (31:35.35).

VOLLEYBALL

Pine River 3, Marion 0

MARION — Pine River traveled to Marion on Oct. 11, and won in three games 25-15, 25-15, 25-22.

Logan Powell had 21 assists while Julie Justin had six kills, six digs and six aces. KayLee Goodman had seven digs and four kills.

”This was an opportunity to try many new scenarios with lineup,” Pine River coach Jana Dennis said. “The girls adjusted well to changes made. It was nice to get a W in the win column.”

Pine River is 2-3 in the Highland.
