VOLLEYBALL

Reed City volleyball

REED CITY — Reed City had an honorable mention honoree for all-Central State Activities Association Gold Division honors with senior hitter Meghan Borst. She had 173 kills on the season, 56 aces, 391 digs and 30 blocks.

“Meghan was our team captain and a positive influence on a very young team,” coach Don Patterson said. “She’s one of only two seniors who provided leadership and stayed positive throughout the year. She is a dynamic attacker and solid defender. Meghan is a dangerous server and led our team in kills and placed second in aces and digs.”

Pine River Bucks

Members on the all-Highland Conference team included KayLee Goodman and Julie Justin. Logan Powell was honorable mention.

GIRLS BASKETBALL

Reed City Coyotes

The season began at home on Tuesday against Pine River. Coach Brian Koopman’s team plays at Lakeview on Friday.

”Pine River will be a good challenge,” Koopman said. “We beat them last year by just a few. They’ll be a good team. Lakeview on the road will be a good game.”

Evart Wildcats

The Wildcats open the season with three games this week including home contests Tuesday with Farwell and Thursday with Forest Area.

”It;s a lot of preparation as you get to that first week,” Evart coach Paul Higgins said. Evart is at Chippewa Hills Friday.

Pine River Bucks

Pine River opened the season Tuesday at Reed City and Dec. 2 at Morley Stanwood.

”Those are good ballgames for us to start off with,” coach Shawn Ruppert said.
