Reed City at Shepherd
REED CITY — Reed City’s volleyball team was 0-4 on Saturday at the Shepherd Invitational. The Coyotes lost to Shepherd 25-20, 25-21, fell to Chippewa HiIls 25-19, 25-17, bowed to Bath 25-18, 25-16 and to Ithaca 26-24, 25-20.
For the Coyotes, Alyssa Olds had four aces and 35 digs; Madelynn Brown had four kills and 47 digs; Jordyn Storch had nine aces and two kills, plus 19 digs and 54 assists; Sidni Rushford had one ace, 33 digs and 18 kills; Alexis Van Eck had eight aces, two blocks, five kills and six digs; Kierra Barker had three kills and 14 digs; Allison Duddles had 22 digs, six blocks and two digs.
Beal City 3, Pine River 1
LEROY — Pine River lost to Beal City 25-18, 25-16 22-25, 25-23 in Highland Conference action on Sept. 27.
For Pine River, KayLee Goodman had eight kills and 11 digs, Julie Justin had five kills and 12 digs, Maddie Martin had six kills and Ally Stokely added 14 digs. Logan Powell chipped in with 29 assists.
“We showed a lot of heart but are still struggling with the start of matches,” Pine River coach Jana Dennis said. “We gather strength as the matches go on but just too late to overcome the deficit we put ourselves in. We will continue to fight through this issue and find ways to overcome.”
Pine River is 12-18-6 and 1-2 in the Highland.
Tri County 3, Reed City 0
HOWARD CITY — Tri County defeated Reed City 25-16, 25-17, 25-23 in Central State Activities Association Gold Division volleyball action on Sept, 27.
Alyssa Olds had one kill and 13 digs for Reed City while Meghan Borst had six kills, one ace and 16 digs, Molly Brown had one ace and four digs, Jordyn Storch had three aces, one hit, eight digs and 15 assists and Sidni Rushford had two kills, two aces and two digs.
Also for Reed City, Madelin Mora had four kills, one ace and two digs while Allison Obermier had one kill and one dig, Alexis Van Eck had four digs, Kierra Barker had two digs and Alison Duddles had two kills and three blocks.
SOCCER
Crossroads 4, Pine River 3
BIG RAPIDS — Crossroads scored first in the opening half. Pine River scored in the first half with Collin Jarvis assisting a goal by Zach Underhill.
Crossroads scored two back-to-back early into the second half. Pine River notched a goal by Anna Lindquist assisted by Steven Hilkowski, who later scored to tie the game.
Brad Holmes had three saves on goal in the first half, 10 in the second half and three in the overtime.
Crossroads scored in overtime to win it.
Pine River had 13 shots on goal.
“Defensively, Jake Johnson, Ethan Underhill, Caleb Bowman, Joyce Jarvis, Caleb Mitchell did a great job working together to keep the ball on the other end of the field,” Pine River coach Jenny Hoaglund said.
