Home run derby April 30
EVART — The Evart Parks and Recreation Department will host a free Major League Baseball® Jr. Home Run Derby™ competition for area youth on April 30 at Evart High School with a 12:30 p.m. event start time.
This is the inaugural year for the event sponsored by Major League Baseball®. It is a free way for talented youngsters to showcase their hitting abilities, with the opportunity of competing at the National Finals during MLB® All-Star Week™.
Boys and girls are divided into two age divisions: 12U and 14U, and will have the chance to advance through three levels of competition. The local champions from both age divisions will advance to the regional level, and regional champions will advance to the National Finals, which will take place during the 2016 MLB® All-Star Week™ in San Diego.
All participants must bring a copy of their birth certificate and have their parent or guardian fill out a registration/waiver form prior to the start of the competition. Registration begins at noon at the field. The event is open to any and all area youngsters within the competition age groupings. Forms are available at the Evart City Hall, Evart Elementary School or at Evart Middle School. Registration forms may also be found online at atmlb.com/1qI4jSE.

Sportsman’s club fish fry
BALDWIN — The Lake County Sportsman Club will have a fish fry 5-7 p.m. on April 29 at the VFW Hall on M-37, north of Baldwin.
