Brad Homes played keeper for Pine River and allowed eight goals in the first half while saving 16 shots. He allowed only one goal in the second half. VOLLEYBALL Pine River 1-2 LEROY \u2014 Pine River\u2019s volleyball team Traveled to Buckley and went 1-2 for the night on Aug. 31. Pine River lost to Manton 25-18, 25-12, fell to Buckley 23-25, 25-10 and 16-14 and topped Baldwin 25-11, 25-10. For the Bucks, KayLee Goodman had 14 kills and 11 digs, Julie Justin had 14 kills and 21 digs and Logan Powell had 54 assists and 13 digs. \u201cWe are heading into a break until next weekend,\u201d Pine River coach Jana Dennis said. \u201cThis will give us plenty of time to work on some problem areas and be ready to go for our home tourney.\u201d Pine River is home for a tournament on Saturday. CROSS COUNTRY Evart boys third EVART \u2014 Evart\u2019s boys cross country team was third at the Cadillac Invitational on Aug 31. Cadillac was first with 52, followed by Mount Pleasant with 59 and Evart with 97. For Evart, Josh Woods was fourth (17:22.30), Nathan Woods sixth (17:37.40), Austin Hamilton 23rd (18:33.60), Alex Hamilton 29th (18:54.62) and Jacob Quist 41st (20:12.50). Evart didn\u2019t have a girls score, but was led by Sarah Nelson, who was 34th (24:02.4), Brooke Belleville, who was 38th (24:57.9), Arianna Mooney who was 52nd (26:49.0) and Rose Clark who was 60th (28.46.9). Pine River girls fifth LEROY \u2014 Pine River\u2019s girls cross country team was fifth on Aug. 31 at the Cadillac Invitational. Anna Lindquist was 22nd (22:46.80), Olivia Thompson 27th (23:14.10), Kelsi Charles 33rd (23:58.20), Anselma Barnett 36th (24:14.30), Holly Bailor 48th (26:07.30), Kenzie Ruppert 58th (28:25.30) and Jordan Dery 59th (28:38.60). The boys did not have a scoring team. Mark Geer was 43rd (20:21.0), Sam Pentces 58th (23:14.60) and Wade Fullerton 62nd (24:39.0).
