CROSS COUNTRY Reed City girls take seventh REED CITY \u2014 Reed City\u2019s girls cross country team was seventh among seven teams in a Central State Activities Association Gold Division meet Oct. 6 at Central Montcalm. Joelynn Gamble-Brown was 25th (23:58.60) to lead the Coyotes, while Catherine Kettner was 27th (24:02.89), McKenzie Cornelius 49th (25:40.06), Lindsey Kienitz 53rd (26:00.91), Hailey Duchene 63rd (27:27.36), Hana Ondrus 71st (28:27.10) and Devin Willard 79th (30:22.21). Brandon Wirth was 23rd (19:25.14) and Brett Walker 50th (22:49.47) for the boys team. Reed City did not have enough runners for a full team. Reed City also ran at the Chris Grabowski Invitational at Manistee. Wirth was 10th (20:32.1) in the boys race while Walker was 27th (23:59.3). For the girls, Cornelius was 20th (26:21.3), Kienitz 26th (26:57.6) and Duchene 30th (28:05.2). SOCCER Northern McBain Michigan Christian 8, Pine River 0 LEROY \u2014 Caleb Bouman had nine goalkeeper saves and allowed three goals while Brad Holmes had 21 saves and allowed five goals against McBain Northern Michigan Christian. Also for Pine River, Kelly Witherspoon had 10 blocks and two steals, Doug Connor had two shots on goal and Jenna Johnson had one. VOLLEYBALL Evart Wildcats EVART \u2014 Evart\u2019s volleyball team is entering the final weeks of the regular season. The Wildcats played at Lake City on Tuesday night. Next Tuesday, Evart has its final home game of the regular season with Manton. That\u2019s followed by a league match Oct. 27 at Pine River and the Highland Conference tournament Oct. 31 at Beal City. The districts are Nov. 2-6 at Evart.
