Pine River 17-17, Tri County 7-20

BRISTOL — Pine River’s softball team opened its summer LAT League schedule on Wednesday at Bristol Fields with a split against Tri County.

Dana Hill was the winning pitcher in the first game. She one inning and allowed four hits and two walks and stuck out one. Bekah Dean went two hits and allowed two hits and three walks.

Dean led the hitters with a single, double and four RBIs, followed by Jenna Johnson with two singles, Kourtney Brock with a double and Chelsey TerBurgh and Hannah Hill with singles.

Dean took the pitching loss in the second game, allowing five hits and seven walks. TerBurgh had two doubles, followed by Johnson with a triple and two RBIs, Trowbridge and Kyla Johnson with a double and two RBI apiece, Hannah Hill and Dana Hill with a single and two RBIs and Taylor Warner with a single.

Pine River plays Reed City in a doubleheader at Bristol Wednesday night.

Reed City 12-19, Cadillac 2-5

BRISTOL — Reed City opened its summer softball season with a sweep over Cadillac in LAT League action Wednesday.

Sidni Rushford was the winning pitcher in the first game, striking out five and allowing two hits.

Maddie Morgan was the winner in the second game.

Reed City coach Roger Steig said he has 13 girls on his team. Some will be JV players and others will be on the varsity next season. Morgan is the lone exception. She will be an eighth-grader next season.
