Pine River 6-7, Kalkaska 0-2
KALKASKA — The Bucks finished the regular season 30-3 after a doubleheader sweep of Kalkaska on Wednesday.
Greg Park earned the win in Game 1, going six innings with five strikeouts.
Lucas Harris and Mitchell McDonald each had singles and a RBI, while Tony Moore had a single and two RBIs.
In the nightcap, Moore picked up the win, going five innings with two strikeouts.
The Bucks finished Game 2 with 14 total hits. Brady Long and Moore had two hits apiece, while Tyler Wing had a single and a RBI.
Montabella 6, Evart 3
BEAL CITY — Evart’s baseball and softball teams both lost 6-3 to Montabella in Division 4 district final action Monday at Beal City to end their seasons.
In baseball, Noah Drake started for the Wildcats. Nolan VanOrder led the team at the plate with a hit, two runs scored and two stolen bases. Trevin Ladd, Cody Pritchard and Andrew Bengry all had hits.
“I thought we went out playing some good ball,” Evart coach Josh Johnson said. “We made plays defensively and didn’t pitch all that bad. Key hits have plagued us all year.”
Pine River 5, Manistee 3
Manton 5, Pine River 3
MANISTEE — Pine River’s season ended in a loss to Manton Monday in the Division 3 district final at Manistee. Pine River won the first game over Manistee. In the game against Manistee, Dana Hill went the first five innings, allowing one run on two hits and striking out three. Kourtney Brock went the final two innings. Tailor Charles had a single and double for Pine River, while Kyla Johnson had a single and triple.
Against Manton, Hill went the first four innings, allowing three runs on two hits. Brock went the final two, allowing two runs on two hits. Brock, Kyla Johnson and Jenna Johnson had one hit apiece for Pine River.
Reed City 14, Shelby 4
HART — Jules Griffin earned the win on Wednesday in Division 3 pre-district action, allowing five hits with two strikeouts.
Lindsey Greer and Amy Squires had two hits apiece, while Griffin, Sidni Rushford and Courtney Smith each had one hit, with Rushford tallying the final RBI of the game.
Skiler Brigham had a three-run home run, and Olivia Lawson had a solo home run.
Kalkaska 10-13, Pine River 0-3
KALKASKA — Pine River ended its regular season with 10-0 and 13-3 losses to Kalkaska on May 27.
The Bucks were outhit 12-2 in the first game. Chelsey Terburgh and Taylor Warner had hits for the Bucks. Dana Hills and Kourtney Brock pitched two innings apiece.
In the second game, the Bucks were out-hit 12-4 and made five errors. It was 8-3 going into the bottom of the fifth and Kalkaska scored five runs. Johnson had a double for Pine River while Terburgh, Warner and Krista Lukshaitis had singles.
Brock went all four innings and took the loss for Pine River.
Pine River 13, Lake City 1
LAKE CITY — Pine River took advantage of eight Lake City errors in posting this Highland Conference victory on May 26. Pine River had a 10-3 hits advantage.
Dana Hill was the winning pitcher.
Jenna Johnson had a double and single for Pine River while Terburgh, Carleigh Trowbridge, Erin Millen, Paige VanHulst, Tailor Charles and Kourtney Brock had one hit apiece. Trowbridge had three RBIs, while Jenna Johnson, and Paige VanHulst had two apiece. Jenna Johnson and TerBurgh scored three runs apiece.
